Itinerary Week 2

Blyde River Canyon

Day 8 After an early breakfast we’ll leave Letaba camp, and the Kruger National Park, for the Blyde River Canyon and its spectacular views of the three ‘Rondawels’, and then onto the equally beautiful Bourke’s Luck potholes with its strange formations of eroded rock. Lunch and the rest of the afternoon at the artists town of Graskop. We may take a short drive to God’s Window, a view point for the lowlands, or to the Berlin Falls. Otherwise expect a festive evening at Graskop’s famous Coach Inn restaurant and pub. (B+S)

Day 9 A four hour drive through colorful Mpumalanga takes us to the border of Swaziland. After checking in at a hotel near Pigg’s Peak, we’ll spend the afternoon browsing Swaziland’s arts and crafts markets, famous especially for their candle production. (B+L)

Day 10 A day’s outing to the beautiful Malolotja Nature Reserve, Swaziland’s last unspoilt mountain wilderness, is planned. A variety of spectacular walks takes us past a brilliant variety of flowers, zebra, warthog and blue wildebeest to the top of the Malolotja falls with fabulous views down the valley. We’ll take a pack-lunch. Return late afternoon for a second night at Pigg’s Peak. (B+L)

Day 11 Depart Swaziland for Zululand, still rich in its traditions. We’ll stop over at a Zulu community centre, where hand made art in traditional style is for sale. Arrive at Duzamanzi, your beach-view home at Ramsgate on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, by late afternoon, and where you will spend the next four nights. We can throw Frisbee on the beach at sunset before enjoying a lovely meal at the Crayfish Inn. (B+L)

Day 12 A free day which can be taken up lazing on the beautiful Ramsgate beach, trawling through the richly stocked antique shops a short walk away, or just relaxing at Duzamanzi or the Blue Lagoon pub, which is situated right on the beach. We all meet at Ramsgate beach for sun downer drinks and a beach barbecue. (B+S)
Marina Beach, KwaZulu Natal South Coast.

Day 13 A morning outing to a nearby coffee plantation is planned, where you will be guided through the entire coffee-making process. Lunch will be taken at one of the lovely restaurants located on this tropical coast road. The afternoon is free at Duzamanzi. (B+L)

Day 14 A morning outing to Oribi Gorge is planned, with comfortable walks and spectacular views. We’ll have a picnic lunch at the gorge and return to Ramsgate early afternoon, with the rest of the day free for lazing on the beach. We’ll meet at the nearby Lobster Pot restaurant for a farewell meal and drinks. (B+L+S)

Day 15 Your final day in South Africa. An outdoor grilled brunch will be served at Duzamanzi, after which we depart for Durban International Airport. En route we will stop at a large Zulu craft and curio market where you can buy last minute gifts. Your flight from Durban will connect you to Johannesburg International for an early evening departure for Norway. (B/L)

Day 16 You arrive Oslo Gardermoen Airport arround midday on a connecting flight from Europe.

Note: Stays beyond Day 16 are most welcome. Choose from a selection of our beachfront holiday homes. A hired car for around R 250 per day can be arranged for your own exploration of this rich coastal region. Your guide will be available to ensure your safe return to Norway.
